A one time expense on purchasing a quality Cast net can save tons of money on buying bait. Not to mention the quantity of bait you can harvest in a single throw. The old saying “You get what you pay for” definatley applies here. A cheap net will tend to tangle on itself causing bad throws. The net will fail to open smoothly and you’ll spend more time straightening up the net then you will throwing it. On the other hand a Quality net will provide you with consistant reliability. The mesh material is soft, and smooth not causing friction on itself. Allowing for a smooth and circular cast that will open itself with little effort. There are many nets that serve different needs. For small bait a 1/4 – 3/8 mesh is highly recommended to avoid bait getting gilled in the net. I will suggest those to you above the links.
Let us start with the smaller bait nets, suitable for throwing from the beach.
Next we have Larger bait nets. These nets carry more weight on the sinker line allowing for faster sinking. These are more suited for deeper water where the bait is on or near the bottom. The mesh size should still be 1/4”- 3/8”
